Education

We believe that accurate knowledge is essential for healthy communities. Understanding local cultures and history can help people confront difficult issues, engage in discussion, and consider many perspectives. Our educational programs explore Alutiiq culture and provide an honest view of the forces that have shaped today’s Alutiiq community, and they are open to everyone. We are committed to creating respect and enthusiasm for Alutiiq traditions among people of all heritages.

Cultural Activities

HANDS-ON HERITAGE

Activities are a great way to learn about the Alutiiq world, enjoy the arts, and express your creativity. The Alutiiq Museum has instructions for crafts, games, and cultural activities you can try at home. We also offer craft events and workshops. Share pictures of your creations with us by posting to social media with #AlutiiqMuseum and #AlutiiqEverywhere.

Resources For Teachers

PLACE-BASED EDUCATION

Educators are important partners in our work. When teachers introduce students to the cultures and history of their home, they invite students to see the world in new ways. This page connects educators to our resources and provides ideas for collaboration. Please let us know how we can work together. Contact Education Manager Leda Beuthin 844-425-8844.
