This Kayak Paddle was originally created and utilized by Peter Paul Naumoff in the mid-19th century. According to family members, Naumoff used the paddle during a trip to and from Fort Ross, California around 1875. The paddle was passed down from Naumoff to his daughter Olga Larsen, who in turn passed it down to her daughter Tina and granddaughter Olga Rowland. According to the Rowland's the paddle had to be recovered from the remains of Olga Larsen's home in Afognak Village after the 1964 earthquake.
