See file for letter of 11/30/95 with transcription from Kellogg diary. Basket II.CC.11 from same source. According to Ms. Kellogg's diary entries she purchased the Indian baskets on May 31, 1908 in Yakutat; on Aug. 6 in Valdez and Aug. 11 in Juneau., number of warp elements in each spoke.

Cylindrical/slightly flaring solid twined spruce root basket with sharply in turned base. The rim is Paul's border 4. The termination is L/R and tied off with a piece of sinew. there are three concentric rounds of double bands of 3-strand twining, the outermost of which could be considered to delineate the base from the wall. From the rim down there are: double rounds of 3-strand twining immediately below the rim; a single round of 3-strand twining; another single round of 3-strand twining; a design band of false embroidery elements; and three double bands of 3-strand twining spaced down to the turn. All 3-strand is in natural root color. The design band is composed of two stacked design elements of double vertical units composed of short rows of black, three short rows of gold/yellow and another short row of black, all in false embroidery.
