Purchased by the Anchorage Museum from the Antique Gallery in downtown Anchorage, AK. The baskets are attributed to the Alutiiq culture based on a study done by Molly Lee.
Twined spruce root basket attributed as Alutiiq. The basket is wider at the mouth than the base and has a central zig-zig design woven as supplemental weft (also known as false embroidery). There are red bands above and below the main design which is woven in alternating colors of red and green and brown and tan.
