Purchased by the Anchorage Museum from the Antique Gallery in downtown Anchorage, AK. The baskets are attributed to the Alutiiq culture based on a study done by Molly Lee.
Twined spruce root basket attributed as Alutiiq. The basket is wider at the mouth than the base and has a central design done in false embroidery. The pattern consists of paired vertical bands woven in short horizontal rows of alternating colors in red, green, brown and tan. There are three solid bands of color above the design with a central green row flanked by rows of red above and below.~root~>
