Possibly Alutiiq, ca. 19th century Collected by the donor's grandfather, Harlow Harvey Amos Hastings, who was a lawyer in Southeast Alaska (Juneau ?) in 1892. Collected by Harlow H. A. Hastings in 1892; gift of D. D. Hastings.
Arrow with a wooden shaft painted red and black, a steel arrowhead 10cm long with a pair of small knobs on each side down into the wooden shaft to help lash it in place. The arrowhead is beveled on both sides, tapering to a point. The lashings appear to be a translucent material, possibly sinew. The shaft has three long irregular grooves down it. There are three feathers, tied in place with the same sinew like material that holds the arrowhead. The shaft is painted red, then black in the area that is fletched.~root~>
