This intricately carved halibut fishing hook was purchased by the museum from Dolores Churchill, a well known Haida weaver from Ketchikan. Churchill received it in the 1970s from her friend Barabara Moody, who had originally acquired it as a gift upon leaving a teaching post in the Village of Old Harbor in the 1950s. Moody informed Churchill that the person who gave her the hook had indicated it was over 100 years old at the time.~root~>
