From letter to Fr. Kashevaroff Sept. 16, 1926, the donor described location. Resemble somewhat Aleut masks found in Dall, BAE-ER Pl. XXIX, with flat broad nose and high forehead. Accn Book p. 129 reads 4 very old wooden masks found in cave at Semenofski Village.
Wooden mask. Exaggeratedly high forehead (even for this series) with very broad nose, eyebrows indicated, open mouth with tongue carved filling in space and small round cuts not going clear through for eyes. Traces of red paint around nostrils. Nostrils carved out. On reverse side the area is primarily flat, with nostrils carved deeply, and in the upper center of forehead area a small piece of wood, tapering to a rounded edge, is inserted and broken off at the surface. Appears to have been driven in.~root~>
