Exhibits

Alutiiq Museum in downtown Kodiak, 2025.
Our exhibits tell the story of the Alutiiq people–from the distant past to the present day. Archaeological discoveries, Alutiiq language materials, photographs, objects, and artwork fill displays on history, harvesting, social life, and spirituality. In addition to sharing permanent exhibits, we host visiting and locally curated displays. To learn more about our exhibits please contact Exhibit Manager Alex Painter, 844-425-8844.

CUUMILLARPET—OUR ANCESTORS
May 2025 – May 2026
In 1818, a Russian watercolor artist captured the faces of Alutiiq ancestors. In 2023, Sugpiaq artist Cheryl Lacy repainted these images—capturing ancestors’ faces and clothing, and adding colorful backgrounds to bring the images to life. This exhibit shares her 11 paintings with information about the original portraits.
Generously Supported by the Alaska State Museum, The Frame Shop, Museums Alaska, The CIRI Foundation, and Rasmuson Foundation.
