The Alutiiq Seal emblem was designed with assistance from Alutiiq artist Hanna Sholl. It features the face of a seal drawn in the style of ancestral petroglyphs.
Established in 2020, the Alutiiq Seal program advances the accurate labeling of artwork offered for sale in the Alutiiq Museum Store, across Alaska, and beyond through a professionally managed registry of Alutiiq/Sugiaq artists. The program promotes the work of Alutiiq artists and assists the public in identifying authentic works of Alutiiq art.
The Alutiiq Seal emblem is the program’s symbol, a mark of authenticity, and a guarantee to the consumer. When attached to an artwork, the Alutiiq Seal emblem indicates that the piece is the original creation of one or more Alutiiq artists. Only original Alutiiq artwork may be identified and marketed with the Alutiiq Seal emblem.
