The Alutiiq Museum is located in the historic heart of downtown Kodiak, opposite the Holy Resurrection Russian Orthodox Church and a short walk from Sargent Park, the Kodiak History Museum, the Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center, the Alaska Marine Highway ferry terminal, and St. Paul Harbor.


Hours & Admission

the museum’s grand reopening is May 22, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.  On May 23, we will resume our regular hours.

Tuesday – Friday: 10 am to 4 pm
Saturday: Noon to 4:00 pm
Sunday – Monday: Closed

Admission:
Adults $10, Senior or Military $9
Children 16 and under free

Events

The Alutiiq Museum welcomes people of all ages, abilities, and heritages to workshops, artist demonstrations, lectures, plant walks, tours, and special events. The Alutiiq Ancestors’ Memorial, a park in downtown Kodiak built by the Alutiiq Museum in partnership with the City of Kodiak.

Tours

Join a member of our staff for a guided tour exploring Alutiiq culture and history, and the museum’s work.

Gallery Tour – 1 hour
$25 adults/$15 children (includes museum admission), up to 25 people per group.

Collections Vault Tour – 30 minutes
$200 for up to 8 visitors

Ancestors’ Memorial Tour – 30 minutes, outdoors
$100 per group

Cultural Experiences

There are many ways to expand your connection to Alutiiq/Sugpiaq heritage from watching an Alutiiq dance performance to meeting a culture bearer, participating in a workshop, taking a walk with an archaeologist or an herbalist, attending a college class in the Alutiiq language, or visiting the Kodiak Brown Bear Center. Alutiiq Ancestors’ Memorial

This city park adjacent to the Alutiiq Museum honors the Alutiiq people, explains efforts to repatriate ancestral remains, and offers a contemplative space for all people to consider the importance of their ancestors. Guided tours available.
