Medium: Skin Sewing, Jewlery, Fused Glass
Gwen was born in Kodiak, Alaska, to Walter Sargent and the late Metha Hansen. Her creativity and curiosity have led her to work in several mediums, including skin sewing, beaded jewelry, fused glass pendants that incorporate Alutiiq petroglyphs, and recently sea glass pendants and earrings.
Gwen finds inspiration for her artwork in both the beauty of coastal living and her Alutiiq heritage. She enjoys the solitude and balance that art provides. “I truly enjoy creating artwork that reflects my connection with the land and sea and my Alutiiq heritage.”
