Ramona Erickson is a lifelong Alutiiq artist and resident of Old Harbor. She loves to work with her hands and explores a wide variety of traditional arts. She learned basket weaving from her mother, Jennie Lee Inga Erickson, and to sew, bead, carve, and paint from community Elders and artists. Kodiak’s Alutiiq heritage, its natural environment, and its animals inspire her work.
Erickson sells her artwork through her online business, Red Raven Creations, and though Kodiak retailers that include the Natives of Afognak, Ovations, and the Alutiiq Museum Store. The Old Harbor Native Corporation, the Kodiak Area Native Association, and the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium have purchased pieces of her work for their corporate collection. Erickson also donates pieces to local charity auctions.
