Lulu Larsen

Medium: Beading, Skin Sewing

Natalia

Tanned fish skin is one of Lulu Larsen’s favorite materials. She loves dying and stitching the unique skins to create textured leather wallets, card holders, key rings, and earrings. Many of her creations also include glass beads, which add a beautiful decorative touch.

Seeing a design come to life is exciting for Lulu and a valued connection to her Autiiq heritage. Lulu learned beading and skin sewing from her aunt June Pardue and in art classes. Both experiences fuel her imagination and encourage her to combine techniques and ideas to make original hand-stitched pieces.

Lulu’s work is very personal. She develops a small number of items and often sells to family and friends.  Lulu is an Alutiiq Seal artist.
