Ramona Erickson

Ramona is a 53-year-old Alutiiq artist. She is a lifelong resident of Old Harbor and lives a subsistence lifestyle with her husband, Rolf Lee Christiansen. Together, they are strong advocates for helping to ensure the preservation of her heritage and Alutiiq culture. Together they own Red Raven Creations, where she sells her handcrafted items such as blankets, pillows, gloves, and one-of-a-kind creations, as well as through local shops in and around Kodiak Island.

She continues to learn and teach her artistic knowledge to the next generation. Ramona has held positions in the community such as Alutiiq Tribe of Old Harbor Board Member, Suicide Prevention Coordinator, and member of the Village Response Team. She is trained in First Aid and trauma response up to EMT III. She is a creative professional who combines traditional and contemporary elements in her artwork.

Erickson sells her artwork through her online business, Red Raven Creations, and though Kodiak retailers that include the Natives of Afognak, Ovations, and the Alutiiq Museum Store. The Old Harbor Native Corporation, the Kodiak Area Native Association, and the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium have purchased pieces of her work for their corporate collection. Erickson also donates pieces to local charity auctions.
